Getting the next generation interested in recycling can be a challenge sometimes. The key lies in getting them engaged about reducing, reusing and recycling - and with kids this often means games!

So here's a little selection of games and other child-friendly educational resources to get kids more interested in recycling household waste.

- Get them excited about recycling with this fun and interactive game! Easy to play on tablets and laptops, this colourful game challenges your little ones to sort the different materials into the correct recycling bin.

- This fun Recycle Roundup game lets your kids clear up the rubbish people have left in the park after a picnic and recycle it before the two minute timer runs out!

- There are lots of great ideas here with what to do with plastic items that all too often get thrown away after just a single use.

- For something a little bit different, this game combines sorting out unwanted objects to take to the charity shop for recycling with phonics, letting your kids practice words and sounds at the same time!

- Although not directly about recycling, this colourful resource is full of fantastic illustrations and facts about our oceans and the damage that plastic can cause in them.

- This fun e-book about a magpie addresses the problems of littering the environment and encourages us all to do our bit to help the issue.
