Green wiki is a contemporary/modern and accepting of anything recent green wiki based on pro-environment (Green) and animal sciences, technologies, people available and business and financial/economical ways to adjust you and your life (lives) to a greener, healthier sustainable/long-term future, for yourself and your offspring (generations onwards).
Posting Articles
Please feel free to contribute. If you have something to say, or an idea to promote, this is a place to do it. If there's a green issue or subject you're passionate about, contribute to its page, or if there isn't one, make one. However we do not want copies of articles from elsewhere. It's fine to quote from and link to other sources, but this wiki has been inundated with thousands of articles copied from Wikipedia and other sources. This is not helpful.
- It makes the wiki difficult to navigate,
- Makes it harder to find articles that contributors have actually gone to some effort to research and write, putting those contributors off and thus further diluting the community spirit that wikis are supposed to engender.
- Lowers the relevance of this wiki in searches people make in search engines, or on this wiki,
- Is not appropriate because the article can be found by anyone on its original source.
A wiki is supposed to be a collaborative venture, not a repository for content already present and easily accessible elsewhere.
Why Wikia Green?
In light of the climate/weather and global crisis and other ecological/biological challenges increasingly facing us, people are becoming more aware than ever about environmental troubles/woes and taking more actions to lessen their impacts. However, learning about the environment can often be confusing and overwhelming. There are lots of voices talking about the environment -- activists, governments, companies, advisory groups, and non-profits, to name a few -- all of whom have different ways of explaining things and advising people. They also make their points through a variety of different media's such as articles to blogs to films to white papers to position papers. It can be hard to find what you are looking for! To compound things, information can also be contradictory: are biofuels good or bad? To what degree?
How Wikia Green Helps
Wikia Green strives to become a trusted naturalised centralised place to share our growing and evolving body of knowledge about environmental subjects, topics and issues/problems with people who want to learn/educate and/or inform themselves and live in a more environmental friendly and pro-future sustainable way.
The Wikia Green community/society also believes that the threats to our environment are real and that they require action. However, this wiki also strives to foster a community where respectful debate and informed viewpoints can be heard.
How is Wikia Green Different from Wikipedia and Other Wikimedia Projects?
Wikia Green content differs from that on Wikipeda in three main ways:
